Jacky Rosen: Co-sponsored bill to protect small business from cyberattack

[Senators Jim Risch and Jacky Rosen joined Senator Catherine] Cortez Masto introducing legislation to help protect small businesses from expensive data breaches and cyber-attacks. Said Cortez Masto, "Unfortunately, small businesses that don't have the resources to purchase expensive, sophisticated products. I'm proud to cosponsor legislation that will ease the burden on small business owners by allowing them to pool together to negotiate cheaper prices and keep their customers' data safe."

Brian Sandoval: $3.5M for cyberdefense against unprecedented threats

We have taken an international leadership role in the development of unmanned aerial systems, autonomous vehicles, and water technology through our economic development efforts. As our economy continues to grow and transform in new and unprecedented ways, it is imperative that we guard against new and unprecedented threats.

In our country, there are now five battlefields in our never-ending fight for safety and security--land, sea, air, space and cyberspace. I have allocated $3.5 million for the creation of Nevada's first cyberdefense center. The cyberdefense center will help Nevada detect, prevent, and respond to cyber-attacks and stand ready to partner with local governments and the private sector to minimize cyber risks.

Dan Schwartz: Investment in infrastructure can bring in high paying jobs

"I want to bring in high paying job instead of offering state support," Schwartz said. Schwartz said he would improve the state's infrastructure rather than build a football stadium. Instead of traveling overseas to entice business, he would direct the GOED to open an office in San Francisco, to entice firms moving from California to the Silver State. "The cost of living is about one-third in Nevada compared to California," he said. "We need for California to move more of their businesses here."

Brian Sandoval: Project Neon: major new highway project

We will also work on Project Neon, a major new highway project that will meet the most critical transportation needs of Southern Nevada. Project Neon is perhaps the largest public works project in Nevada since the construction of Hoover Dam. It will completely modernize the infrastructure of Southern Nevada's transportation grid and ensure that our commute is safer and more efficient for decades to come.

Brian Sandoval: Drive investment in broadband technology

We must continue to drive investment in broadband technology that fast-tracks job growth and provides a platform for spurring innovation across our state. My budget includes $3 million to help residents of rural Nevada use broadband access to start and grow businesses, or telecommute to anywhere in the world. These improved broadband connections will also allow the electronic exchange of health information between providers and hospitals to improve the quality of care.
