Simplify voter registration; extend early voting

Q: If elected, what will you do to ensure that the voting rights of all Americans are protected and that our elections are accessible and secure from internal and external threats?

Chrissy Houlahan: We must make voting more accessible to eligible Americans. We cannot discriminate or disenfranchise certain voters based on their race, age, or socioeconomic class, and to that extent I oppose identification laws that masquerade to suppress voters. We can protect electoral integrity without disenfranchising eligible Americans from voting.

Among the several avenues open to expand voting rights are reducing the cost and easing the complexity of obtaining home state identification (especially for non-drivers), simplifying the voter registration process, extending early voting and expanding the period when polls are open, and increasing the number of polling places.

Get big money out of our campaigns, plus more disclosure

We must take steps to protect the integrity of our elections, including getting big money out of our campaigns, restoring advertising transparency so American voters know who is trying to influence elections, and taking immediate steps to secure our election systems that are fundamental to American democracy.

PVS:Regulate campaign donations from corporations.

Houlahan supports the PVS survey question on regulating campaign donations

Project Vote Smart inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Campaign Finance: Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?' PVS self-description: "The Political Courage Test provides voters with positions on key issues. Historically, candidates have failed to complete our test due to the advice they receive from their advisors and out of fear of negative attack ads."
